A MOTHER

A mother is one who conceives in love,

She carries her baby with care,

Taking care of herself and the unborn child,

Always conscious of the baby growing there.

She will eat, drink, and rest as she should,

For she knows that as time moves along

That whatever she does can affect the child,

And she wants it born healthy and strong.

As the child within develops and grows,

Her love for it has begun,

And that love will last a lifetime

For a daughter or a son.

Then comes the day, the blessed event,

She has no fear of the pain,

Her thoughts are not on the liabilities

But are centered on the gain.

The baby is born and in her arms,

Held gently close to her breast,

Of all the babies born to date

She is sure that this one is the best.

She meets the many demands that it makes

As it goes through the early years,

Though it is not easy she is up to the task,

The blood, the sweat, and the tears.

For her, too soon the years rush by,

She wonders where the time has gone,

The child she carried and cared for

Stands before her now fully grown.

She knows she gave it the best that she could,

So her heart is satisfied,

Another emotion now stands with her love

As she looks upon it with pride.

There are many jobs in the world today,

One more important than another,

But the one at the top of her list for years

Has been not a wife, but a mother.

FREEDOM'S COST

Our ancestors came to this land to be free

And they passed it down to you and to me,

Most of us feel that we have the right

To live as we wish both day and night.

We love the freedom which we all enjoy,

But it is not free for we must employ

A large standing army always ready to go

Any place on earth as we all know.

They place themselves regularly in harms way,

Which helps keep us safe day after day,

We owe them so much for what they do,

Protecting the homeland along with me and you.

You would know that freedom has a cost

If a member of your family was ever lost

As he or she defended our land

Or the values held dear as together we stand.

The cost of freedom may be high indeed,

To protect it we will take the lead,

And as I close I once again say

Freedom is not free, someone has to pay.

TELL ME

Can you tell me just why you feel

That your skin color is right,

And all other skin color is not as good

As the one that we all call    WHITE?

You may be taught that by parents,

But when you grow up you see

As you just try to live day by day

You are no better off than me.

You spend large monies year after year,

Waste loads of time in the sun,

You pay to have your body parts changed,

Is vanity why all this is done?

Out of one flesh all races were made

No matter how you may feel,

If  WHITE is so right then why do you

Try to look like another? ---Get real.

No matter how you feel about things

It does not make it so,

Many things in life do really depend

On not who you are but who you know.
